6 and 9 August 1945
Americans throw out the individual bombs in Hiroshima and
Nagasaki, Japan, respectively. A massive nuclear «mushroom» reaches 18
km height and convulse even the airplane setting.
The bomb on Hiroshima, was type uranium 235, which had received
title «Little Boy», while the bomb in Nagasaki which errifthi
used as charge plutonium. This had taken the title «Fat Man»
(fat). The initial number of casualties from the bombs dropping, for the most
of civilian population, estimated at around 70,000 deaths for each city. The
devastating effects of nuclear radiation caused more victims but the
following days, and for decades later. These discharges were
personal decision of the then U.S. President Harry Truman.
To place the fate of the commander of Army Aviation in Spatz
which owned the aircraft, requested a written order from the political leadership
«Refusing to kill perhaps 100,000 people with only verbal instructions». The order
actually sent in writing with the signatures of the Minister of the Interior George
Marshall and the Military Secretary Henry Stimson. The final, however, decision
according to the U.S. Constitution should be taken only by the President who
received on the grounds that they give rise will bring a quick end to the war in
Pacific theater and that the victims of the bombs would be less than the losses
to a possible landing in Japan or the continuation of the war. This assessment,
however, has strongly challenged and supported the view that the dropping of individual
bombs was a show of force by the U.S. to the world and especially to
the Soviet Union. (As such, paved the way for the start of the Cold War.
